Therefore, start using treadmill by first holding to its handles. This way you will gain confidence and finally will be able to run on treadmill with hands free, without holding on to the handrails.
First time electric treadmill runners should start with slow, easy and relaxed speed, and then slowly increase the speed of the treadmill according to your comfort level and balance. Also getting your footwork right during treadmill running is very important as the main cause of injuries due to treadmill running is wrong footwork. Also your hip movement is important to run effectively on treadmills. So remember to keep your footwork and hip movement appropriate.
Holding on to the handles is good for getting comfortable with treadmills walking or running, but once you’ve got enough confidence, you must not take help of the handles. Using handrails for running on treadmills is a very big mistake done by many treadmill users, which should be avoided as it is responsible for many problems like muscle strain, bad body posture and many others.
Now the last step, that is, stopping the treadmill should be done very carefully, as not doing this step properly leads to many injuries. So stop the treadmills carefully either by slowing down the speed of treadmill until it stops completely or by directly hitting the stop button. The latter option should only be done when you have gained full confidence on treadmill running; otherwise the former option is safer for first time treadmill users.

I think eclectic treadmills are very useful and anyone can use them. there is no bondage of age or sex. You are free to use it your way.
