Tips to consider when purchasing an Electric Treadmill
There are tons of treadmills available in the market and you can get one at any cost ,ranging from thousands of dollars to few hundreds dollars. It’s your choice how much you want to spend. But cost is not the problem; problem is with choosing a right treadmill according to your needs and not wasting your money by buying a crap treadmill model which doesn’t really meet your needs.
When buying an electric treadmill, the first thing to look for is the manufacturer’s warranty. Cheap treadmills surely will have less warranty period which is of no use, but treadmills with high or good cost price certainly comes with long warranty period and thus giving you more satisfaction about the management of your treadmill. Paying out more for the treadmill will get you better service warranty which will cover almost all parts of the treadmills including motor, frame and other parts for a significantly good period of time. This will relive you from the expenditure on the maintenance of treadmill and its parts and will also save you from spending money during failure of treadmill parts.
Now let’s come to the treadmills parts, the major part of the treadmills, which is also called its heart, is motor. Without the motor treadmills is of no use, that means everything of treadmill depends on the motor. Therefore special focus should be given to the motor when buying treadmills. Try to get as long warranty period as possible on motor of the treadmill. Try to get a heavy duty motor having horsepower ranging from 1.5hp to 2.5hp.
Now we further move towards to the belt. The belt should be wide and long enough so that you can run o it comfortably without having any problems. Compact treadmills are generally the cause of the serious injuries. Another thing, speed range of the treadmill should be around 0-10 mph, and almost all treadmills provide this, so you shouldn’t worry about it much. But serious runners should look for higher speed range.
You should also check the inclination of the electric treadmill. Inclination helps in increasing the strength and potential of treadmill workout. Today all treadmills have inclination of about 1-15 degrees, which is sufficient for most runners. But be sure to check that treadmill can elevate your body weight easily. If it can’t then, most probably you should just ignore that treadmill.
And other things like noise, the space covered by it should also be kept in mind before going for a treadmill. See if that treadmill unit fits best in your place and is not creating problem with its noise.
Every treadmill is equipped with control panel functions to help you with managing your workout. Speed meter, distance, calories burnt, inclination meter are the most basic ones that a runner need, and if the treadmill have many other functions too, then its good for you. But see if you can easily handle them, and you are good with the complex functions of treadmills.
So these were the few guidelines that must be considered and kept in mind when buying a treadmill to make sure you get the best model of treadmill.
I don’t understand any of the technical stuff and what I should look for. Thanks for the article it will help me out
